The Peace Ripple

Using the power of spirit to accelerate whole system solutions for our endangered animals and habitats!

The goal of the Peace Ripple is to harness the power of collective focus, through meditation, to accelerate holistic solutions that reduce harm and promote peace for our endangered and disrespected animals and ecosystems-as well as the people who rely on them.

The State of Peace is most often thought about in terms of absence of conflict, war or other violence,  freedom from the fear of conflict or violence, a state of mutual harmony between people or groups, or a state of inner tranquility.   This has historically focused largely on national and human interactions, with the role of healthy ecosystems, and the animals within that receiving far less attention. Holistic peaceful solutions will vary greatly by species and geography but include global institutions, cultural values, financial considerations, political context, ecosystem state and local needs. People, the planet and her animals, we are all connected.  And many of our animals and ecosystems are suffering, for very complex reasons but that are solvable. The impacts of climate change, heat and biodiversity loss are themselves a problem and exacerbate the situation. Let’s bring all aspects of ourselves to finding more holistic, peaceful solutions, more rapidly.

Join the Peace Ripple for a short introduction and meditation.

Juli Trtanj

Founder, The Peace Ripple

Juli Trtanj is a global leader at the intersection of environment, health, and peace. As the former Climate and Health Program Director and One Health Lead for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Executive Director of the U.S. National Integrated Heat Health Information System, she has spent her career building bridges between science, community, and policy.

Her work was part of the international scientific collaboration that contributed to her Nobel Peace Prize recognition, affirming the deep connection between protecting our planet and fostering global harmony.

She knows from experience that the solutions to our complex animal and ecosystem health issues are multi-faceted and multi-sectoral.  Many people throughout the world are working tirelessly to find and implement solutions–using science, politics, finance, technology and a myriad of other tools.  But in this rapidly changing environment, we are barely keeping up, or maybe worse, falling behind. To thrive requires ALL of our resources–and that includes the energy of our spirit, our soul, our passion.  There is burgeoning evidence that focused meditation can reduce the harm from conflict.  So why not try? Just because we don’t fully understand it yet, doesn’t mean we should not add the power of spirit and healing energy to our arsenal of resources to foster peace and harmony.

Juli’s passion has always been protecting the planet and her animals.  She believes that caring for the Earth and caring for one another are inseparable. Her journey reflects a lifelong commitment to compassion, collaboration, and the healing power of collective action.  Through science, service, and spirit, she strives to embody the ripple effect of peace — reminding us that every choice we make has the power to nurture both our planet and the animals with whom we share it.

Do I need to know how to meditate to attend?

Absolutely not, come as you are.  Whether you pray, meditate, do energy work, or just want to help the animals…all are welcome!  This will be a short introduction followed by a guided meditation.  Just try to find a comfortable spot-chair, yoga mat, sofa-where you can focus quietly for about 45 minutes.

What is the Peace Ripple?

The Peace Ripple is designed as a global collective effort harnessing the power of our spiritual and healing energy to accelerate holistic solutions that reduce harm and promote peace for our endangered and disrespected animals and ecosystems-as well as the people who rely on them. The initial focus will be through guided meditations that will start with a global context and then focus on a specific species or ecosystem, holding that focus for at least a month.

The goal is that we begin to integrate this aspect of focused energetic or spiritual practice into our daily life–thus creating a Peace Ripple  effect that supports more rapid holistic, multi-sectoral solutions that create a peaceful and healthy coexistence between people, planet and animals. The Peace Ripple is envisioned to be additive, to help accelerate new and enhance existing efforts of those already working to solve these complex problems–at both global and local levels.

What will the Peace Ripple do?

While now in its infancy, the Peace Ripple is envisioned to include global meditation events, periodic daily meditation challenges, interviews with experts, and background information on species or ecosystems of focus.

It is possible that the species and ecosystems of focus could be crowd sourced among members of this collective

Ideally, though this is much harder, we will pursue ways of documenting impact of our collective effort

We also envision partnering with and supporting other organizations with similar and compatible goals.
